What We Believe

South Main Street Baptist Church is an independent baptist church and is not a member nor contributes to the Southern Baptist organization.

Our conviction is that only a God centered message from the pulpit is the only God honoring one that can be preached.

Doctrinally the believes and teaching reflects the orthodoxy of the baptist faith rather than trends and methods that many evangelical churches have adopted in an attempt to appeal to the modern culture.

The orthodox baptist faith is of a reformed or “Calvinistic” nature. This is reflected in our abstract of principals which is based on the historic baptist confessions. This approach is generally referred to as “Doctrines of Grace” or “Sovereign Grace” preaching and teaching. This is merely teaching the full biblical counsel of God and leaving nothing out.

Preaching and teaching is primarily from the King James Version of the bible but we do not hold the position that KJV is solely authentic or superior to all other English bible translation.
